Cos we like it cold

Be prepared for a long post. :)

Genting was a blast! It was so much fun traveling with a group of friends. So much laughter, so many jokes, so much crap.

It was our impromptu grad trip. Haha. And we’re planning for either Taiwan or Bangkok next.

That Friday morning on the 14th, I was too excited I couldn’t sleep. I slept at 12 and found myself just closing my eyes for 2 hours. I didn’t sleep a wink. -_-

Eventually I dozed off around 3ish and woke up again at 5. Had a quick bite with LA before heading out to cab to Goldenmile Complex to meet the rest. A total of 8 of us were on this trip. Huat ah!

As time drew nearer to boarding the coach, we all got excited.

Polaroids of Lydia and Gu. Plus random photos of us on the coach.

We took Grasslands. I think I still prefer WTS coaches. At least they were leather seats. And if we were lucky, we might get upgraded to a better bus with personal entertainment FOC. But for Grasslands, we were given the 26-seater with no personal TV. But there were 2 TVs, 1 in front, 1 in the middle of the coach.

They were showing some Hong Kong ghost film. Budget kind. I watched on for 20 minutes before deciding it wasn’t worth my time. Haha. LA was already sleeping so I just listened to my ipod and dozed off.

The bus was literally crawling. It took us 7 hours to reach. A lot of Five Star coaches overtook us and were speeding ahead. But we realised there wasn’t a need to rush since our check in time was at 2pm. It was probably right for the driver to go slow and steady if not we would have nothing to do when we reached earlier.

Our queue number was 7070. We waited around 20 minutes before checking in.

We were starving! Gu buay tahan went to buy a packet of Keropok and we shared.

By the time we checked into our rooms, it was past 3pm. So everyone freshened up and gathered for late lunch.

Kenny Rogers! Everyone busy deciding what to eat.

Eating in Genting is usually expensive. It seemed that Kenny Rogers was the only cheap restaurant in Genting. The total bill came up to around 220 ringgit. That’s around SGD10 for each of our set.

After lunch, some of us wanted to visit the Ripley’s Believe it or not museum. It was my third time there but it still seemed I hadn’t seen everything inside yet.

I love this! We all look tiny!

Plus this! We all sat on this to get lucky so we could all huat in the casino later!

We had lots of fun in the museum. I had no idea why haha. Everything amused everybody.

Everyone loved playing with these mirrors.

Towards the end, we played with this shadow thingy. Like everyone positioned ourselves in front of this white background and a huge flash came on. Then our shadows appeared on the background for awhile and we all laughed like crazy and started going for a second, third, fourth time doing wacky stunts.

Last one was Mao doing a solo shot. The rest above were all of us raising our hands like we were at a concert.

I always loved HUGE mirrors. So I couldn’t resist a group shot here.

All 8 of us! Huat ah! Mao + Emily, SC + Amanda, LA + Me, Gu + Lydia = The W Company.

Super love this group of people. :)

We spent more than an hour in the museum. Emily and Mao went for foot massage while the rest of us went to Starbucks to chillax since we weren’t hungry for dinner yet.

We took a few polaroids there. LA and I went on the Lovers’ Bridge and snapped a shot there but we turned out really tiny haha. Should have taken a shot with the digicam instead. :(

While I was there, I complained it wasn’t cold enough so I was the only one wearing sleeveless. Then they created this Ji Pa (鸡扒) Challenge where we had to brave the night coldness and buy Crispy Chicken from the stall outside the theme park.

So we headed there. I was dying for some cool breeze!

It was still fine when we took the escalator downwards to the entrance but when the wind blew, it got pretty cold. Sadly, the crispy chicken stall was closed. So were the other stalls. Why close so early one?

Then no choice. Cannot buy. We headed for dinner.

We had Bak Ku Teh! Finally! My craving was settled.

Expensive Starbucks + Bak Ku Teh

I super like the Bak Ku Teh there I kept telling LA must try! Mao also said it was good so we all had it. Everyone agreed it was good. Haha. Tau pok, tau kee, mushrooms, bak ku, lean pork and a claypot full of piping hot soup is damn shiok in cold weather.

After our late dinner, we went to the Casino at First World Hotel. But there weren’t any tables with bet limits lower than RM100. A bit too expensive to play so we just walked around see see look look only.

We had time to spare before our movie, anyway.

Then we went for our movie, Faster, at 10.45pm. RM17 for movie tickets with free popcorn, drink and chips. Cheap or what?

We got the back row. Premium seats! Same price also, I think. Huge leg room and comfy seats. Good view too.

Woohoo!

Movie quite ok lah. Dwayne Johnson damn huge lah. His muscles damn dua liap lor.

We spent the rest of the night at the casino before retreating back to our rooms at 3am.

The girls damn poor thing. Go back shower still wash hair and blow hair. Think by the time we were done, it was 4am. But no choice. If I let my hair dry naturally, it would take 5 hours. Yep. Five. I’ve timed it before. Lol!

And we woke up at 9am. So imagine if I let my hair dry naturally, I wouldn’t have slept at all. Haha. Some of us overslept =x The thing about going on holidays, you wouldn’t want to waste another minute on sleeping.

But we slept pretty well. Heard that Lydia and Gu slept only at 6ish. No idea what they were doing =x The rest of us slept all the way.

It was a good thing our rooms were side by side. So getting to each others’ rooms were convenient. Don’t even need to make room calls. Just walk over knock door can liao.

Sleepy-faced us at Causeway Bay for breakfast.

For breakfast, we settled for Hong Kong style. At Causeway Bay, we had roast meat or char siew noodles or french toast with honey and butter. Very healthy wor. And the food not bad lah. Quite cheap also.

After breakfast, we jalan jalan around for a bit. Wanted to go to KTV but it was way overpriced. It was either 2 hours of singing with lunch or 3 hours of singing. And there were 8 of us. Sing one song each, that’s it? Too expensive.

End up went Genting Casino. I liked it there! So big and spacious, unlike First World’s. We explored around the smoking area until we complained about the smoke. We exited and said to return after dinner.

Then we went to play some of the arcade games, tried to win those plushies, failed miserably. Only Mao got Emily a giraffe plushie. The rest just wasted money. When it got warm, we just stepped out the hotel for some ‘aircon’. :D

Lydia, Amanda and LA trying to hit the stupid pyramid which obviously was heavy on the bottom and the stupid plastic balls weren’t even heavy enough to knock them over.

Then suddenly we decided to do the Ji Pa Challenge.

Off we went.

Amanda, SC, Lydia and Gu queuing up for the chicken. It was RM12 for 1 piece. Bloody expensive. LA and me not hungry so we camwhored. Lol. What a camwhore king and queen we were.

Emily and Mao went to buy sweet potato. What is wrong with Em’s appetite? So freaking skinny but always hungry. I not fat but I also jealous of her. Cos I can’t eat as I wish without putting on weight!

So don’t judge me. Say I eat a lot and don’t put on weight. I put on weight like crazy lor. I just control the amount I eat.

After snacking, we headed for bowling. No photos cos all photos very tak glam. Lol. I watched the rest play because my nails were too long. Didn’t want to risk breaking them.

They played 2 games and we went for early dinner at Mushroom Farm!

We called for the shuttle bus to come pick us up from the hotel lobby because it was quite a distance to walk. Probably walking downhill wouldn’t hurt so much but imagine us climbing UPhill. And the weather turned colder. We could die! Haha. Shuttle bus was a smart choice.

Less than 5 minutes in the shuttle bus and we could even camwhore all the way till we reached. Best!

Shuttle bus was complimentary but how could we not tip the driver right? He was so nice to bring us around and guided us where to go.

We could go see the farm and do some shopping before settling for dinner there.

Pretty mushrooms eh? My favourite! They planted Ling Zhi too. I told them mushroom farm reminded me of Maple Story :x

Jumping stunts. But kinda fail leh cos not everyone jumped together. But we had a good time laughing while watching them do it.

Dinner was at their eating place. Very much like our tze char stall. Ordered dishes to share.

French beans, mango chicken, hotplate tofu.

Salted egg prawns, assorted mushrooms and 3 king eggs (chicken egg, century egg and salted egg).

All these dishes include white rice for 8 of us and 2 pots of chrysanthemum tea totaled up to only RM150. Freaking cheap or what? Less than SGD8 per pax. Can consider having 3 meals there. Haha.

Then we shopped for snacks there.

And I saw the cutest things ever!

3 pups with the mummy resting on this cold weather. The bottom right puppy damn cute lah! Like that also can sleep!

And we took some photos around there. Nothing really much to see actually.

Mushroom farm, everybody. Remember this place!

It started raining and the wind was blowing. Damn cold already. Probably below 20 Degree Celsius that evening. We waited for the shuttle bus to come fetch us back to the hotel.

Rested for awhile in the hotel before chionging for the casino at Genting Hotel. This time we went to the non-smoking area.

I sat down and played 3 Pictures. My luck quite good. Until some of them started betting with me. All win together. Shiok!

Supper at 9ish after 3 hours in the casino.

Awful chicken rice. Can skip it. Just eat Bak Ku Teh like Mao and Em. They ate it for 2 nights.

The rest of us ate from the chicken rice stall. Major disappointment!

Dinner chop chop eat finish and we chiong-ed back to casino. Haha what a bunch of gamblers. We were aiming to win the whole casino! Lol.

I am fearing for my and LA’s future. Scared we become 赌鬼. But luckily we live in Singapore. Don’t bother to pay $100 levy to get into local casino so no chance to lose more money. But if we get onto cruise, then wish us luck!

:D

Nightview from outside Genting Hotel. Extremely misty, as you can tell. You can easily disappear into the mist.

We ended the mission to win the casino over at 2.30am cos none of us succeeded in doing so. Then off to bed.

Oh wait. I had supper. Bought korean cup noodles and rubbed my tummy to sleep.

Shiok!

We totally concussed that night. Close eyes and koon immediately.

Morning came. Had to drag myself out the bed. Became damn grouchy cos damn tired and sleepy then still must pack luggage.

But all was fine at breakfast. Good dim sum to chase away all the sleepiness.

Breakfast at Shanghai 10. Ordered some rice and noodles with some dim sum to share. Quite nice.

The morning on the third day was cold. We spoke and mist came out. Coolness! And the mist was so bad the theme park was closed for the day. Sadded. Someone mentioned the temperature was 14 degrees celsius.

Oh we didn’t even go to the theme park. Lol maybe old liao, all prefer doing adult stuff like gambling.

It was so misty it looked like some horror film or something.

Group pic was taken on my polaroid. And why did Gu appear posing on the background of the photo of me and LA?

Time to go home. Grabbed our luggages and checked out swiftly. Proceeded to buy some Keropok back for the family before checking in at the bus terminal.

It was misty about 10 minutes into the ride. And LA snacking on the popcorn that we didn’t touch on movie night. Ramly burgers at Yong Peng are the best!

When I was there, I craved for steamboat. I suggested bringing the steamboat pot there the next time we’re there then just plug it into any power point at the hotel corridor and we eat there. Shiok right? Can go mushroom farm buy mushrooms add also. Lol.

Now that I’m back in Singapore, I’m craving for the Bak Ku Teh again. And I ate ice cream last night! No matter what, Singapore couldn’t be compared to Genting for its coldness.

Next challenge, ice cream in Genting without our jackets, outdoors!
