How freaking true is that? I’m sure everyone who holds a 8 to 5 job on weekdays know exactly how I feel. Weekends are way too short. And public holidays in Singapore are way too little. Only 10 public holidays this year. Ten. Pathetic.

But the fact that salary for this month came in with the AWS, it made my mood better.

And it’s about 5 days to the Chinese New Year! Read: lots of good food. I am serious. Without fail, our tummies will be rubbed satisfactorily after each meal with the family and the weighing scale will inch to the right after the indulgence.

We haven’t exactly done any CNY shopping yet. Only 1 packet of Bak Kwa at home. No decorations, no oranges, no new year cookies etc. I haven’t even done my spring cleaning yet. How now brown cow?

I somehow figured that the house is newly renovated and that it would be extremely clean and neat, spick and span easier to clean up.

Talking about the renovation, I haven’t even sorted out the pictures for the before and after photos of my house. Time, Y U NO enough one!?

To make this post less wordy, I’m gonna post up some mundane photos of my life.

Casper’s new fur cut for Christmas but this photo was taken when he was caught licking his paw. He gave the pretend-nothing-happened look. “Yes? Simi daiji?” As usual.

I have always knew that shopping with girlfriends is dangerous.

One day, the girls were doing their nails at Mao’s place with Emily’s new colours. And it stirred their sudden interest to get new nail polishes. And off we went one fine Sunday afternoon. The place was somewhat inaccessible with limited buses and a great distance away from the MRT but we all drove so it wasn’t an issue. 4 young women, 2 hours and $500 poorer. A manicure session at my place concluded the day. The end.

My damages alone was $117. Kill me now. But it was fun

So as usual, a quick recap on what I’ve done this year. Though I’m rather guilty of neglecting this space too many times this year, but I’ll list down as much as possible. I figured I update Facebook more than my blog so I will link some events to FB albums instead

So here’s the summary of 2010.

Spent the first day of 2011 with the extended family at the chalet with loads of BBQ and laughter.

Took a quick 3D2N trip to Genting with the clique and LA. Considered our grad trip since graduation last year. Ha.

Had serious issues with insomnia and nightmares.

Great CNY feasting as usual.

LA bought XBox Kinect and we both had loads of fun with it.

Assisted in a surprise proposal for Mao and Emily. Attended their wedding 6 months later. Even agreed to be their march-in dancer. Ultra FML.

Started a full-time job as a Marketing Executive.

Met wonderful colleagues. All very 三八 one! =D

Walked the journey of BFF’s wedding. From gowns trial to photoshoot to actual day events. *sob sob* Oh yes, not forgetting the Hen’s Nite party

Road trip with the clique to Malacca. 13 of us, 5 cars.

Turned 24. Birthday fell on General Elections day. And yup, my first time voting. And had a surprise planned by LA for a stay at MBS.

Lovely colleagues gave me a surprise celebration at work.

Clubbed with the clique. So. Much. Fun.

Had a day at USS to relish the kids in us.

Casper met a new friend, Noel.

Caught a few musicals. Lion King, 881 and Crazy Christmas.

Spent a weekend at Hard Rock Hotel, RWS.

Visited Night Safari after more than a decade.

Celebrated LA’s 27th birthday for the first time as his other half.

Had a really impromptu decision to renovate the house of 20 over years. We were relocated at Grandma’s temporarily while the house went through a major revamp. Very ouch to Mummy’s bank account but it was time to do it.

And yes, had a same old brand new house to live in after 2 months though still lots of hiccups here and there.

Became a millionaire!

Attended Sulian’s big day. First from my poly clique to settle down!

Had 2 cruise trips.

Virgin trip to Taipei! 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Applied for a flat and got it! *gasp* Still in shock that I am actually making this step.

Have spent every single weekend with LA without fail. Be it staying home watching movies or playing with Casper or going out for dinners. Every single minute spent together, I treasured it. Thank you, Baby, for being the one. Now let’s hope LA’s career goes smoothly and he can huat big money and make me a tai-tai ya! Lol.

The past year, I was more involved in helping strays and shelters albeit not physically but through several online methods to spread the word across to bring up awareness. These strays, abandoned, abused dogs need your help! If you are like me who can’t foster/adopt another dog (due to HDB restrictions knn), you can also offer your help by making monetary donations to the various shelters. I just can’t sit and watch these dogs struggle for survival and not lending a hand.

Despite small hiccups along the way, 2011 was still an awesome year for me. Learnt alot, met a lot and grew a lot. Am just hoping there are more opportunities for my career to advance in the coming year.

New year resolution: take less cabs. Lol. Serious problem for me this year. Right, the thing I should do is not oversleep so often

I hope Mummy and Sis stays healthy and safe. May Sis’ get another promotion and huat bigger! Hope Casper stays healthy too, less vomiting, less peeing at the wrong places, then I thank sky thank ground liao! Hope LA and his family stay closely-bonded as always, most importantly, healthy too. Right, I have to watch my health too considering I fell sick several times this year. Hope I have less visits to the doctor myself. Save the money for future expenses instead.

Hope everyone is happy and contented for the new year! Be more compassionate, towards each other, and towards animals.

Goodbye 2011, I’ll miss you! HELLO TWO-O-ONE-TWO!!!! Let’s see what you have prepared for me! Chiong ah!!

Was kinda worried the food wouldn’t be enough but luckily it was. Even enough for our next few days of meals.

So many kids running around and playing with Casper. He was so happy that day. He concussed by 10pm when everyone has left.

We even had a caroling group over for some Christmas songs. Even the choir people thought Casper was cute haha.

Shall do up another post with pictures very soon, though I think my sister was too busy entertaining to take much pictures.

Probably will do up a before and after of my house too.

GAN CHIONG DIE ME LAH!

On Monday, I was so nervous at work I couldn’t focus on anything. I was praying so hard the unit we wanted wouldn’t be taken up by applicants on that day. Kept checking back the HDB BTO page to see if the unit was highlighted in red. That night, I thought I would suffer from insomnia but luckily I slept pretty well.

Morning came and I woke to a text from Kaixin wishing me good luck. The first thing LA did was check the BTO page again to see if our unit was taken. Thank God it was still available.

Perhaps most would find 13 unlucky but hey, it’s actually a lucky number for the chinese. Right. My uncle lives on the 13th storey. My sis will be staying on the 13th floor too. Kaixin also chose a unit on the 13th floor. So how can that be unlucky? So now I was determined to get it on the 13th floor too that I kept worrying someone might have my exact thoughts – that 13th floor is lucky – so they would choose it too. Glad we got it instead.

Sis accompanied us for the selection and gave us some tips on where to choose and what to look out for (occupational hazard). Glad she helped us a bit if not we might end up choosing a unit we might regret. And LA’s parents went down too, to show support haha. Sis has met them. When I got home and updated Mum about it, she was like “So your jie met the in-laws liao lah!” LOL I think she’s secretly jealous of my sister. WAHAHAHAHA!

So yes, $2,000 poorer for LA and a zi-high me after finally realising that WE HAVE OUR OWN HOUSE! It took me awhile before the reality kicked in.

*deep breath*

Calm down. Luckily our CPF were enough to cover the downpayment. Phew.

Perhaps my excitement now is way too early since the house isn’t even built yet. The last we checked, the construction site had just started. So it would definitely take a while.

And the officer did mention “3 years” a few times during our selection despite the estimated completion date would be 5 years from now. But since she mentioned “3 years” meaning it would be delivered earlier than promised. I like. Under promise and over deliver. Like that I wouldn’t need to wait so long til we get our own house.

The fact that Punggol and my current place is on both ends of the country worries me. If quarrel with LA, want go back niang jia must pay expensive cab fare. Lol. I shall not quarrel as much then.

So anyway, our future home is the biggest monetary commitment ever made. I can never imagine how we came to this point in our relationship to finally settle on something we both want and need. Amazing.

What’s next? No pressure at all, really. Lol. I told LA I wanna collect more years of ang baos first before we start giving them out.

Haha. I’m becoming a casino-addict. Cruise casino to be exact. FOC and no need to travel a 6-hour coach ride up to Genting, though I prefer Genting since it’s cheaper to play there. Table bets are expensive on cruise. Luckily I don’t go on cruise that often.

This time, we went with Amanda and Sim Chuan. Just nice her family booked rooms for 4th, 5th and 6th that weekend so LA and I made plans to go on the same weekend as them.

We settled with check-in and went for dinner with LA’s parents. Then it was a bit of time-passing before the casino started operations.

Then we met up with them for supper.

I had wanted to stay up to watch HBO or something but I dozed off while playing Tiny Tower on the iPad. When I woke again, the movie ended. LA already snoring away so I turned off the TV and slept.

We woke just in time for breakfast. Almost missed it.

The thing about buffet is that I always will take porridge (for chinese) and cereal (for western). And generally I will take salads. I’m such a low-maintenance girl. Ha.

People whack the oysters and sashimi or what steak and stuff. I whack noodle soup, fried bee hoon, porridge, salads and bread. LOL.

We spent the entire day in the casino. Machiam our money spend no finish one. Cos we were quite lucky. Got win a bit bit. And lose a bit too. But overall win. HUAT AH!

We had dinner at a chinese restaurant with his parents. They ordered Buddha Jump Over the Wall. I totally didn’t know how to appreciate it. Wasted the ingredients inside, only drank the soup. Lucky LA ate for me. Why so extravagant? Where’s my plain porridge and cai xin and preserved beancurd leh?

Banana split for snack. 7 bucks after discount, ladies and gentlemen. Crazily expensive.

LA looking cute here. At times I hate it that certain angles of him make him look young and MOST angles of mine make me look old. FML.

Mine. Malaysian style Bak Kut Teh. Totally way too big portion for one. We used to share it the previous time we had it. Now I butt itchy ordered it for myself.

End up eat until bloated and cannot finish some more. Wasted.

Go back room koon and prepared for check-out the next morning. Hate it that the weekends always end so quick. But at least I look forward to the weekends every single weekday.

So much went through my mind.

First timers will have better chances right? RIGHT? But we have lesser chances than those who live near their parents, no? What if we don’t get a chance? Then wait til November BTO? But November BTO not nice! Location not good! What if Punggol is too far from my workplace in future? Are the buses/trains accessible? What if we want to shift house next time? Can sell better price? How? When can we get the flat? What’s the first down payment needed to pay? What are the MONTHLY instalments we need to pay? What if we are not earning enough? How long before the completion date? 2016? WHY SO LONG!?!?!?

FML. What a nervous wreck.

The sequence of life is totally screwed up. It’s no longer fall in love > get married > buy house > have kids > happily ever after. Bullshit! It’s no wonder fairytales don’t come true.

Now it’s fall in love > apply house > wait for house > if no house, apply again > get married after getting a house > work more > have kids > work some more > pay bills/house/car/education/whatsnot > retire when you have enough money.

FOLs! And I haven’t even gone into details.

So anyway, we got the ballot results yesterday. I was totally hyped up and all anxious after seeing updates from forum that the results were out. I immediately informed LA to go check out our Q number (if we had) but he was busy so he didn’t see my text. So I waited and waited anxiously. When he finally saw my text, he told me HDB website crashed due to high traffic. And he checked his email.

Yup, we got the notification email.

Q number was 500+ out of 1041.

Lucky? I guess so. At least we were within the 1041 units available when there were 2002 applications. But it was for BOTH Waterway Brooks and Waterway Woodcress. We would prefer Waterway Brooks considering the location.

So now we really need lady luck to help us get a unit of our choice.

We had our struggles before the results. After the application was submitted, LA’s parents thought that we should have applied for 5-room instead of 4-room. Stating reasons like it will sell better and stuff in future. They even offered to make the first payment for us.

Consulted a few property gurus (such as my sister) and was told the demand for 4 and 5-room are somewhat the same now but in future people will demand for smaller flats (increasing costs). So conclusion was: buy 5-room only if we could afford it.

We knew our finances would be tighter if we were to get a 5-room. Besides, I would be the one doing the housework! Clean die me lor! Moreover, our application couldn’t be changed so we stood firm with our choice.

And thankfully we got a good queue number according to my sister. Will have to pray hard that good units will still be left even though we aren’t too fussy about it.

So now my question is, how long more do we wait til we get our turn to select our unit??

PS. This is my 999th post!! Hopefully I have exciting stuff for my 1000th post ya!

Bought him some nice treats from PLC since I have no chance to cook something for him this year.

Nonetheless, he couldn’t keep his eyes and mouth away from the treats. *Slurps*

Casper boy, you are 4!!! That’s 28 doggy years! OMG you’re OLDER than me now!! *sob sob* But I’m still your Mummy. Wahahahaha!
